September 19, 2009 - Visited Villa Tugendhat, which was built in the 1920s as part of the functionalist movement. It would have been a lot cooler if we saw it next year, since a lot of the building was run-down and wasn’t going to be renovated until 2010. It also would have been cooler had I not been to the Guggenheim this summer and seen the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition since anything he’s every produced kind of owns Villa Tugendhat.
But it was still pretty cool. My favorite part were the windows that, with the flick of a switch, opened completely so the living space was completely open to nature. I’m putting that in my dream house.
